Resisting Strengthens Empowerment

I’ve been coming across a belief lately that “standing for a world where race & religion do not matter is naive” (and abusive).

This idea has been showing up in my feed several times, and now I’ve encountered it in my own life. People claim that this belief is exclusive and does not acknowledge the biases that exist today. They argue that anyone who holds this belief is privileged and doesn’t understand the experience of racism, sexism, or other forms of discrimination.

I understand where this sentiment is coming from, but it still surprises me given the current cultural climate. However, it’s worth noting that someone like Thich Naht Hahn, who faced extreme racism and injustice, dedicated his life to teaching us to look beyond superficial human traits and connect as one.

He taught us to go within ourselves and heal, rather than focusing on our differences. He believed that a truly good cause is always motivated by compassion, not fear or anger.

I found Thich Naht Hahn’s teachings incredibly powerful and impactful, and this has been a valuable lesson for me. I’m committed to fully accepting all that is, healing any parts of me that resist, and remaining in peace and joy.

This work is precious to me, and I am grateful for the exposure and the opportunity to grow.
